Our story

About Us

A small, local team with a big love for the rainforest.

Who we are

Rooted in the villages around Sinharaja

Sinharaja Excursions & Tour Guide is a locally owned business based near the Kudawa entrance to Sinharaja Forest Reserve.

Our guides grew up beside the forest. Long before guiding visitors, we walked these trails, learned the calls of the birds and the names of the trees from our families. Today we share that knowledge with travellers from around the world — helping them see the rainforest through local eyes.

Alongside our tours, we offer comfortable accommodation and reliable transport, so every part of your visit is looked after by people who care.

Your guide

A naturalist's eye for the details

Our lead guide has years of experience in Sinharaja, with a particular passion for endemic birds, reptiles and amphibians. They know where the Blue Magpies feed, which streams the frogs prefer and when the mixed flocks pass by.

  • Licensed and experienced local guide
  • Bird identification by sight and sound
  • Fluent English and friendly, patient guiding
  • First-aid aware and safety focused

Our commitment

Responsible tourism, every step

The rainforest is our home and our livelihood. We keep groups small, follow all reserve regulations, employ and buy locally, and teach every guest how to enjoy Sinharaja without leaving a trace.

When you travel with us, your visit directly supports families living alongside the forest — and gives them every reason to protect it.
